Maggie White MNCS Accred
Maggie was a Registered General Nurse specialising in Orthopaedics and Trauma before going on to work in ICU & CICU. Prior to this Maggie worked abroad for various travel companies as an overseas rep. She has always had an interest in why people make the choices they do and how they coped with various life issues. In 1994 Maggie took an Introduction to Counselling Course at Stirling University and started volunteering at Off The Record, an organisation for young adults. From there she went on to complete Counselling Skills course before attending Strathclyde University (Jordanhill Campus) and studying for a Post-graduate diploma in Counselling. Qualifying in 2001, Maggie then joined an counselling organisation working in GP practices throughout Lanarkshire. The organisation was taken into NHS and Maggie remains there to this day.
Before joining NHS she studied and completed a Diploma in CBT Counselling and has throughout her career attended many various workshops as she believes in ongoing learning and development. Maggie also works for a small charity and privately as a counsellor. Her main theoretical base is Rogerian Person-Centred but is open to other Therapeutic disciplines as the most important thing is that it fits the clients needs.
Graham Sheaff MHS Accred
Graham is a Psychology graduate with extensive experience in teaching in secondary, further and higher education. He became interested in counselling as a natural extension of his study of Psychology combined with his experience of dealing with adults and young people withint the education setting. He trained as a Psychodynamic counsellor and has his own private practice. In order to provide a more holistic approach to therapy, he undertook additional training in CBT which was more applicable to the teenagers he was working with in his role as a secondary school tutor where support for stress, anxiety and OCD were required on a regular basis.
To complement these therapies, and following his interest in the overlap between therapeutic styles, he undertook further training as a hypnotherapist. He combines a passion for theoretical knowledge with a breadth of understanding of different styles of therapy and a wealth of experience as a teacher, tutor and therapist.
Gloria Breen MNCS Accred
Gloria lives in the Scottish Borders and enjoys the outdoor life. Psychology has been a passion for almost 14 years since starting her career change, leading from working as a Veterinary Pharmaceuticals sales manager to retrain as a psychologist/psychological therapist. Gloria has a BSc Hons in Psychology, Advanced professional diploma in integrative counselling, Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Diploma level qualification in Addiction, and is an accredited member of the National Counselling Society. She has spent several years working with addiction and dual diagnosis, also in a rehabilitation hospital and has experience in supporting individuals who self harm. Her experience also includes counselling individuals with a number of additional problems such as, depression, anxiety, relationship issues and more severe problems such as BPD. Gloria has experience in using a variety of different therapeutic models including Person Centred, CBT, REBT and Motivational Interviewing and is currently involved in expanding her knowledge and training in mindfulness techniques and DBT.
