The city of Birmingham is the most populous city outside of London and is rapidly becoming a global city in its own right. The Bullring shopping centre, universities and various cultural institutions bring thousands of people to the city every year; the Birmingham Royal Ballet and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra are just two such examples.

The courses on offer are the Certificate in Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills (one year), Diploma in Counselling Skills and Theory (two years) and Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (three years). Students have the option of paying in advance and receiving a discount or in instalments with zero interest, giving you that added flexibility.

TUTORS

Sian Williamson MNCS Accred

Siân has been a counsellor for over 20 years having started as a volunteer with Cruse Bereavement Care. She has an Honours Degree in Psychology, a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and a Diploma in CBT. Siân has worked in various counselling settings including the voluntary sector and the NHS and is now a counsellor in private practice. She is also part of Birmingham Counselling Services. Siân runs her own Community Interest Company which aims to provide counselling for all, regardless of financial status. She is also a qualified supervisor.

Fiona Gelling MNCS Accred

Fiona has worked in a general counselling practice since 2009, working with clients who are in their teens to those in retirement age and with both men and women. She has a wealth of experience in working with clients who have relationship issues, and those who are affected by anxiety, panic attacks, fear, anger, bereavement, depression, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, or moments of disassociation. She also works with clients who have experienced sexual and/or physical abuse, domestic violence and post traumatic stress disorder. Fiona works with individuals, couples and families. She also volunteers as a counsellor for First Step, an organisation run for male survivors of sexual abuse and their supporters, and I also work with HM Prison Stocken. She is a registered Therapist for the PFOA and a trainer on the Chrysalis Diploma in Counselling Skills and Theory. Fiona is a fully qualified Counsellor with an honours degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute in Nottingham (accrediated by Coventry University) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy. She undertakes regular continuous professional development workshops and keeps up to date with the latest research and developments in the counselling and psychotherapy sector. She is an Accredited member of The National Counselling Society (MNCS Acc) and as such work within their ethical framework and have regular supervision.

Daniel Browne MHS

Daniel Browne is a fully qualified hypnotherapist, having completed his studies with Chrysalis. He is now in private practice, with a busy clinic running in Warwick where he specialises in weight loss, smoking cessation, and anxiety issues. Daniel is passionate about hypnotherapy and the many benefits it can bring to people's lives, and this is reflected in the way he works. He previously worked in mental health care for Rethink, supporting people with schizophrenia, and decided to train as a therapist after finding he enjoyed the aspect of his role that utilised therapeutic skills.

Alongside his work as a hypnotherapist, Daniel is also Chairman of a charity that supports people from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) community. Supporting people has always been at the heart of who Daniel is as a person, and in his charitable capacity he has worked extensively with schools and advised government on their mental health care policies. In his capacity as a hypnotherapist, Daniel contributes to a series of magazine columns and is currently writing his first book.
