How Hypnotherapy helped cure one woman’s chocolate addiction

We have all been there haven’t we? Bought a packet of chocolate biscuits or a pack of chocolate bars, and before you know it, they are all gone.

One lady found this happening all too often. Margaret Richardson, a hairdresser, was telling a client, Linda, about how much chocolate she was eating, when they suggested she give hypnotherapy a try.

“I was a chocolate addict” said the 62 year old “couldn’t go into a shop without coming out with chocolate, I could eat a box of chocolates in one go, no problem.”

Linda, a lifestyle and business coach. Runs Release your potential, a firm that uses hypnotherapy to help people with a range of issues such as phobias and weight loss.

Margaret decided to give it a try and after just 3 sessions she said the results were remarkable. “She puts you in a state of relaxation. You are not asleep and you remember everything that is going on” she explained.

"She talks about what you like about chocolate and about something you wouldn't like and what you wouldn't eat and compares it to that," said Margaret. "So it's about having a different mindset.

"Once you have gone through it, if you stick to the techniques, it can be with you for a lifetime, I think."

Now, Margaret allows herself a little chocolate every now and again, but says the techniques that Linda taught her help her to control how much she is eating. Not eating as much chocolate also helped her to lose more than 1 stone.

Margaret now recommends that people be open minded and try the treatment. “It’s another form of therapy” she states. She says the secret of hypnotherapy is tapping into the subconscious.

We are so glad Margaret tried hypnotherapy and was able to curb her chocolate addiction. Well done!
