Psoriasis sufferer helped by counselling
A woman from West London has revealed how attending counselling sessions has helped improve her severe psoriasis, an irritating skin condition.
According to Wn.com, at one point, 46-year-old Ruby Jaffrey found 80 per cent of her body was covered in the red, itchy scabs characteristic of psoriasis. After trying every treatment imaginable, Jaffrey found herself at a loss.
"I sad the condition had ruined my life. I always wore clothes that completely covered my body. I was so self- conscious, I had stopped going out," Jaffrey admitted, something which she revealed to her dermatologist when she broke down during a consultation. The dermatologist was so alarmed that a referral was set up for Jaffrey; allowing her to attend specialist counselling sessions.
"By the end of the first year of counselling, I had half the amount of psoriasis. Now, less than per cent of my body is affected and, to look at me, you can't tell," the delighted HR manager exclaimed.
Her success story may encourage other sufferers of skin conditions to seek help from someone with a diploma in counselling; particularly given how happy Jaffrey seems to be now.
Often, psoriasis or other skin conditions are triggered or made worse by changes to a person's nervous system and brain. Mail Online reported that one in four Brits suffer from such problems and potentially, could benefit from following in Jaffrey's footsteps - particularly if something stressful is happening in their life.
Not only can stress make a skin condition worse, it can also lengthen the time it plagues a person, so it's well worth seeking help.
