George Michael undergoes drugs counselling after crash
Singer George Michael has revealed that he signed up for a 14-day drugs counselling course just a day after crashing his car in July.
The 47-year-old pop star made a statement to his fans earlier this week, in which he explained that he had undergone a detox programme as well as outpatient drugs counselling.
"I want to thank you all sincerely, and also to reassure those of you who worry so much for me. I fully appreciate the seriousness of my current situation, for which I truly apologise," Mail Online quoted Michael as saying to fans.
"But I feel you should know that on the day after the incident I checked in to a clinic for a 14-day detox program here in London, which has been followed by ongoing outpatient drug counselling several times a week."
Michael was arrested shortly after crashing his Range Rover into a photo shop in north London on 4 July. He later admitted that he had been driving under the influence of cannabis.
It was not the first time Michael had been arrested for drug offences, and it is thought that the former Wham! star could face a jail sentence for the most recent incident.
He was released on bail following his arrest, but The Guardian reports that he will return to court on 14 September for sentencing. He has already been hit with a 6-month driving ban.
