A former bodybuilder and Miss Wales winner has spoken about how a counselling course for anger management helped her beat alcoholism.

As reported by The BBC, Sharon Naylor won a bodybuilding title in her 20s, as well as the Miss Wales competition. An injury forced her to sop bodybuilding, which is when the drinking began.

"By the age of 24 I was married and had two children," said Ms Naylor. "I wasn't happy staying at home as I wanted to continue my training, so I started drinking."

The mother-of-two from Llaneli's marriage broke down and she moved, making friends with other people who enjoyed drinking heavily.

According to The Daily Post North Wales, Ms Naylor said: "I'd become a very angry person through drinking. I recognised this and was offered anger management counselling. I realised it was the drinking that was making me angry. I also had some mainstream counselling."

The experience encouraged to former Miss Wales to complete a counselling course herself. "I've learnt such a great deal about myself from doing this, and I've found it so motivating," she said.

Ms Naylor has since taken part in a three peaks mountain challenge to support the group which helped her stop drinking.

"I have my lows but I'm learning to cope - I feel I'm on the road to recovery," concluded Ms Naylor.
