Dr Chris Forester

Chris holds a First Class Degree in Philosophy & Theology from Oxford University and an interdisciplinary D.Phil in Jungian psychology, also at Oxford. He co-taught a series of seminars in the Psychology of Religion with Archbishop Dr Rowan Williams for the University of Oxford Faculty of Theology.
After a Visiting Studentship to the University of Chicago, working with a world expert on Pastoral Care and Psychology, Chris held a University Lectureship in Religious Studies specialising in the Psychology of Religion, before leaving academia to concentrate on his interest in therapy.
Qualifying as a psychodynamic psychotherapist and hypnotherapist, Chris utilised his combined expertise in higher education and psychotherapy to launch Chrysalis. In 2000, the best-selling novelist Peter James based a character in his novel Faith on some of Chris's work in complementary therapies.
Chris has held many prominent positions in therapy, including Chair of Trustees of the Hypnotherapy Society. He has appeared internationally on TV and Radio. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and Royal Society for the Promotion of Health, and holds numerous profession-related qualifications.
Most important personally to Chris is that he is a graduate of the Hoffman Quadrinity Process.
Sharon Forester Director of Training & Development

Sharon has worked in the therapy field since 1998. Although she sees varied cases, her specialities are all areas of bereavement and loss and all types of regression work. She does seminars with Hospices to promote the use of end of life therapy for the terminally ill and their families that include the application of hypnosis, and the mind-body-spirit connection. Alongside this Sharon has managed and developed a charity - providing counselling for carers of all ages and looking after people who are terminally or chronically ill. This service provided both face to face and telephone support. She has also worked in Education and Training for many years in various organisations including the Education and Training department of the Parkinson's Disease Society. Sharon has been teaching hypnotherapy, psychotherapy and counselling for Chrysalis since 2002 and is a senior member of the Candidate Selection and Interview Panel and is Director of Course Development and Training.
Marie Easden Course Manager

Marie has in excess of 30 years experience in business administration, including working as a secretary to directors of the Avalon and Somerset NHS Trust and admin and day to day management of an optometrists. Marie is Course Manager, responsible for overseeing administrative operations and day to day management of the company.
Linda Selway Senior Administrator

Linda has over twenty years experience in administration including working as a secretary, receptionist and PA. Prior to joining Chrysalis she spent seven years working as a supervisor in a Customer Relations department for a large national house builder. Linda joined Chrysalis in June 2006 and is a member of the administrative team.
Lynda Gaskin Administrator

Lynda is a Chrysalis Administrator; she has been working in administration since 2003 and working with the Chrysalis administrative team since June 2006. Lynda is responsible for arranging interviews for successful applicants and shipping materials to tutors.

Sharon has over 24 years administrative experience. For the 18 years prior to joining Chrysalis in 2006 - Sharon worked for the education department in Somerset where she was responsible for organizing training courses for teaching staff in schools and nurseries

Brenda Coleman

Following many years in the teaching profession, Brenda studied at Leeds Met. University to Diploma and B.Sc. levels in Therapeutic Counselling. She has been employed by a Primary Health Care Trust responsible for mental health assessments, and for a Domestic Violence Service as a Children's Counsellor, Further experience includes tutor/team leader and mentor of trainee Counsellors. To further her professional development, Brenda is currently studying for a 'Diploma in Consultative Supervision' at the University of Wales.
Amanda Critcher

Amanda Critcher is a professionally qualified counsellor and hypnotherapist with over twenty years experience of working therapeutically with children young people and adults. Originally qualified as a social worker, Amanda’s extensive child protection work motivated her to pursue therapeutic training.
Post-graduate study at Great Ormond Street Hospital in the treatment of child sexual abuse enabled her to specialise in therapeutic work with child and adult victims of abuse, assessment of sexual offenders and delivering training, supervision and consultation to other professionals. Further qualification in counselling and psychotherapy lead to Amanda developing and managing a Local Authority staff counselling service - over a ten year period. Working with staff that had experienced trauma and stress, using relaxation, visualisation and meditation prompted Amanda’s further interest in hypnotherapy.
Amanda lives in Glastonbury and has a private practice, offering counselling and clinical hypnotherapy. Amanda teaches counselling and hypnotherapy for Chrysalis
Nicholas Cullen

Nicholas Cullen is a qualified ‘European Psychotherapeutic Counsellor’, an accredited Cruse Bereavement Counsellor and an Individual Member of the BACP. His specialised areas lie within the fields of Bereavement (Loss), and working with Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse (Trauma). He has a private practice in East Sussex and has undertaken therapeutic work with two national organisations: Cruse and Survivors UK. Running concurrent with this therapeutic work, Nick has taught in Adult Education on counselling and psychotherapy.
Nick’s therapeutic journey began in the field of psychodynamics/analysis which formed the basis of his early work as a counsellor/therapist; today Nick sees himself as an Integrative Therapist. He has continued his personal and professional development and is extensively read in the field of psychotherapy and he has a comprehensive understanding of many different theories. Nick is also well read in the fields of para-psychology, meta-physics and philosophy. Nick teaches Counselling and Psychotherapy for Chrysalis and is also an essay and case study marker.
Stephen Farthing

Stephan began working in the counselling and psychotherapy field in 1989 when he worked supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or mental illness. Since then he has worked in a great number of settings including, Family and Adolescent Service Teams (social services), Colleges, Schools and Residential Care Organisations. Stephen became a senior tutor in Counselling in 1997 and has held posts as counselling and psychotherapy tutor since this date. He has qualifications in Family Therapy, Clinical and Pastoral Counselling, Counselling Supervision, Drug and Alcohol Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Bereavement Counselling. Stephen is a member of the College of Teachers (MCollT), the Counselling Society (MCS Acc) and the Institute of Counselling (MoIC).
Rob Finley

Rob Finley is a Transactional Analysis Psychotherapist. He has completed advanced TA training and also has qualifications in person-centred counselling. He currently has a private practice and works as a counsellor for the voluntary sector and as a drug counsellor for the NHS. He has a background in mental health and youth work. Camilla Ghazala

Camilla is a practicising Psychotherpist and Tutor. She works as a Psychotherapist within the NHS, her local GP Surgeries and various corporate clients. She also practices as a Supervisor and is the Managing Director of CSN, a network of therapists. Camilla is the co-tutor for the Adlerian Psychology Certificate and Diploma (4 years) as well as a range of Personal Development Courses. Camilla's background is in Financial Management, and 10 years as a Complementary Therapist, her particular interest is in our mind and body connection, and enabling clients to achieve optimum health psychologically, emotionally and physically.
Anne Gisby

Anne has studied to degree level in counselling, undertaking a further diploma in Post traumatic stress counselling with a CBT model underpinning practice. Ongoing training has included CBT and cancer care, systemic practice and group work studies and professional development in psychosynthesis. Anne has 12 years supervised practice ongoing training and CPD as a counsellor, settings include; the voluntary sector, private practice, and several years in a clinical setting.
As a trainer Anne has eighteen years experience in the voluntary sector, further and Adult Education. She continues to maintain private practice and a management role in education.
Kay Milton

Kay Milton is qualified in Psychodynamic Counselling, Transpersonal Therapy, Dream Analysis and Life Coaching. In addition to this she has studied Gestalt approaches, Transactional Analysis, Zen therapy and also received training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Kay has previously tutored for the Probation Service and has also had the opportunity to work within the fields of homelessness, mental health and addiction.
Kay currently works in private practice as a counsellor and also offers workshops to her clients on stress management, confidence building, self awareness and personal development. Kay teaches Counselling and Psychotherapy for Chrysalis.
Melanie Phelps

Melanie began her working career as a nurse in 1983, she has fulfilled a number of roles during her career including practice nurse, staff nurse and teacher of clinical Nurses. Melanie then changed direction and has been working as a hypnotherapist, psychotherapist, counsellor and psychologist since 2001. Melanie runs her own practice and regularly teaches as an adult education tutor for Surrey Health. Melanie's qualifications include: A PhD in clinical Hypnotherapy, an MA in Behavioural Therapy, a BSc(Hons) in Psychology and she holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel and Training.
Maggie Rodgers

Maggie is an experienced counsellor and has worked in a health centre and currently in private practice. Her practice is integrative, drawing on models and theories as are appropriate to the needs of the client. Her private work includes some work for small companies and is with clients both on a short and long term basis presenting with a full range of issues. Since completing her training in 1999, she has worked for a mental health charity, setting up a telephone helpline for people experiencing emotional and mental distress.
Maggie has also worked as a College Lecturer, delivering a counselling theory and skills module to Cert Ed/PGCE students.
Jacqueline Smith

Jackie Smith is a graduate of London University and has a diploma in Counselling and a Post Graduate Diploma in psychosexual therapy. Jackie started her counselling career as a volunteer with an alcohol advice centre in Kent. After qualifying she worked for a primary healthcare service which provides counselling in General Practice throughout Kent, working with a wide range of presenting issues.
Jackie also worked as a tutor on a diploma in counselling course, run by the then ‘Thameslink Healthcare Services NHS Trust, as a personal development group facilitator and a supervisor of trainee counsellors.
Other experience includes running a private practice in Dartford for a number of years, telephone counselling for a national newspaper and writing a problem page for an online dating agency. Jacqueline teaches Counselling and Psychotherapy for Chrysalis.
Judy Smith

Judy Smith started her counselling career in 1995 whilst working with Victim Support in Bristol. She did her placement with CRUSE Bereavement Care for her diploma in 1996 and has continued to work with them as a counsellor and trainer ever since. She has worked with several charities in the Bristol/Bath area and specialises in PTSD, Bereavement and Loss. She is also one of the few 'pink' counsellors in the South West. She has an interest in 'natural therapies' and has her own counselling practise in Bristol.
Geraldine Williams

Geraldine began her work in the Mental Health arena in 1998 when she began working as a support worker for adults with mental health problems in Denbigh. From here she has worked in a number of settings including working with children and adults with Aspergers/Autism and working on a number of Mental Health wards (including Acute Wards) for the National Health Service.
Geraldine has a number of qualifications as a result of study of different subjects such as Humanities, Sociology and Relationships and Communication and she also holds qualifications in Counselling and Psychology for Counsellors.

Robert H Collins (Bob)

Bob trained as a social worker in 1991 when he gained a BSc (Hons) in Applied Social Science and a Diploma in Social Work. After a couple of years practicing as a social worker, he trained as a teacher for students in further education and went on to hold a number of positions lecturing in Health and Social Care for Southgate/Southwark Colleges and City and Islington College. Bob has many years experience teaching varied and diverse student groups. In addition to this Bob is a qualified and experienced academic and work based assessor. Bob has also trained as a Hypnotherapist and has been in private practice for a number of years. Bob teaches Hypnotherapy and Basic Counselling Skills for Chrysalis.
Lorna Cordwell

Lorna Cordwell is a full time hypnotherapist with a private practice in Harley Street, London. She holds an Honours Degree in Social Psychology from the The London School of Economics (University of London); and a Diploma in Hypnosis and Psychology from the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy. Over her years in practice, she has worked with hundreds of clients to help with a variety of issues. Recently, she has worked at Sussex Cancer Centre as part of a research study funded by The Community Fund to show how hypnotherapy can help patients to cope with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Robert Cross

Robert is a Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Hypnotherapist in private practice in Birmingham. Robert has a vast store of experience in this and related fields that began in 1985 when he started work as a Project Leader at the Lea Hospital in Bromsgrove where he was responsible for the day to day running of a day care centre for adults with learning difficulties and adults with physical disabilities. Since then he has worked in a number of settings as counsellor, consultant, welfare officer and Trainer. Alan Davidson

Alan Davidson began his work in the helping professions as a voluntary counsellor. He became a hypnotherapist in 1989 when he achieved a Diploma in Hypno-Psychology. Alan ran a successful full-time practice for sixteen years before becoming a tutor with Chrysalis where he teaches Hypnotherapy and Basic Counselling Skills. Alan continues to work as a therapist and therefore keeps up to date with changes in the profession and develops his own skills. Alan also taught for seven years in Adult Education and is a qualified tutor.
Penelope Edwards

Penny has been working as a therapist in private practice since 2003.
Penny has qualifications in Anatomy and Physiology, Body Massage, Indian Head Massage, Reflexology, Aromatherapy and is a Reiki Master. In addition to this, Penny has a Diploma in Alchemical Hypnotherapy. Penny does much of her work at a Health Farm in Somerset where she is a member of a team of three hypnotherapists. She also practices from home.

Karen Ferguson

Karen has many years experience in hypnotherapy and other client-centred therapy. She is based in Hertfordshire and works mainly from home. Karen has experience of working with both adults and children and has helped many clients deal with a huge range of problems including stress, depression, relationship problems, childhood issues, quit smoking etc. Having been through hypnotherapy as part of her training, Karen fully appreciates what it is like to be both therapist and client, enabling her to tailor her client’s sessions specifically for their individual needs. Angela Lawrence

Angela runs a Hypnotherapy/Psychotherapy practice based in Gloucestershire where she specializes in Hypno-Birthing. Angela has also developed 'Hypno-tech' which is a special learning therapy that enables people with learning difficulties, to gain confidence and assimilate knowledge more easily. She has lectured at the Dyslexia Centre in London offering advice to teachers on the subject and she currently works supporting students at Foundation Level for a local college. Angela also works supporting newly qualified members for the General Hypnotherapy Register.
Kim Moore-Cullen

Kim Moore-Cullen is particularly interested in all aspects of human welfare, human development and natural therapies. She has undertaken voluntary hospital work and has also worked with students with special needs. She has experience teaching in many capacities both at home and abroad and has been teaching since 1995 and also has enjoyed working in an advisory capacity for OCN and ITEC examination boards and professional associations, Taunton Area Health Authority committee for NHS policies. Christopher Padro

Christopher has been a practising hypnotherapist for 11 years, running a successful practice in the UK and also has four years experience of practising in Spain. He served in the West Midlands Fire service for 26 years during which time he received training in Presentation Skills and was a Fire Service Instructor and Lecturer in subjects covering First Aid, Trauma Management and Hydraulic Rescue Equipment.
Chris has delivered training sessions in EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and is a Chrysalis tutor teaching Hypnotherapy and Basic Counselling Skills. He is experienced in Analytical Hypnotherapy, Post Hypnotic Suggestion, Regression and Holistic Healing. He is passionate about hypnotherapy and has seen and helped many thousands of clients with a variety of problems to be resolved.

Clive Gascoyne
